Good skin is either something you’re naturally blessed with or, if you’re like me, something you have to work very hard for. Luckily I’ve never suffered from acne but my skin is still very much a work in progress! It scars easily and usually for a very long time. So, for me, the road to good skin is a long one but one that I’m very determined to get to the end of! I might not be there yet but things have definitely improved after starting these habits below. Honestly, if I can follow them, anyone can!
1.Drink lots of water
And when I say “lots” I mean it! Basically this is two liters of water everyday. There’s a reason that this is at the top of every experts’ list of how to get good skin – it works! If I ever have a good skin day I can guarantee you I’ve been drinking lots of water recently. Also, water is great for keeping a healthy mind and body, it’s the answer to everything!
Okay so this is an absolute Godsend but I will admit, it takes a long time to see results. It’s pretty expensive but a little goes a long way and it’ll probably go off before you finish the bottle! Bio-Oil is perfect for red, scarred skin. I use it every night before bed; always after my moisturiser otherwise your moisturiser won’t sink in!
3. Buy the right moisturiser
This is something I’ve only learnt very recently. I decided to change to a different moisturiser (a very risky thing to do I’ve now realised…) and chose a thick, creamy moisturiser by No7. Now, there’s a reason that their target market is older women; their moisturisers are not meant for spot-prone skin! A lighter moisturiser, that sinks in quicker, is much better as it lets the skin breathe better when we pile lots of make up on afterwards. The best moisturiser I’ve found for this is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range (pictured above). It sinks in SO quickly and your skin feels fresh and soft afterwards every single time.
4. Keep your hands away from your face
I am the absolute worst at touching my face; I do it alllllll the time! It’s so bad for your skin. Think about it, you have so much bacteria on your hands (no matter how much you wash them) and you’re just spreading that all over your lovely face. This is my one New Years resolution so hopefully I can stick to it and stop by the end of the year!
5. Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
This is perfect for when you can feel a spot coming along and want to stop it before it can go any further. The bottle may seem pretty small but its not too expensive and you really only need a little bit each time. Be careful not to shake the bottle as you need to use a cotton bud to collect some of the pink powder from the bottom. I’m not going to lie, it does sting pretty bad when you first apply it to your skin but hey, it works so it’s all good!
If any of you have any other tips to getting better skin, please comment below as I would really appreciate them! One day I will be comfortable not wearing foundation 🙂
